Estreno de Entre Flores y Raices
Mi debut como actor.
En el pasado, había tenido pequeños dialogos en algunos musicales donde había bailado. (Curiosamente, casi siempre mi personaje era un villano, o un alivio cómico). Pero ahora, este 16 de Noviembre, debuté oficialmente como actor protagonista en un drama muy intenso. En mi publicación anterior de este blog, les contaba como terminé actuando en la obra Entre Flores y Raices.
Después de mucho trabajo tanto para convertirme en ese actor que necesitaba ser con la ayuda de Azul, y del director asociado de Somos Teatro, Jaime Caletti, y después también de un trabajo intenso en las coreografías (Esta obra tiene coreografías de Danza Contemporánea, Bachata, Danzón, bastón y hasta tango) y en que me puse las pilas hasta para bajar un poco de peso, por fin estrenamos la obra en el Teatro del Rio Cuale de Puerto Vallarta.
Gracias entre otras cosas a que me puse a invitar a lo loco a familia y amigos, tuvimos lleno total en el Teatro del Cuale. Cómo es costumbre, la ansiedad previa al show, no se hizo esperar, pero en cuanto se dió la tercera llamada nos fuimos tendidos a dar lo mejor de nosotros mismos. Empezamos con algunas fallas técnicas en el sonido del teatro, pero poco a poco, eso paso a segundo plano para entregarnos a lo que para mi juicio es una gran historia bastante relevante en la actualidad pero con algo de elementos de ficción a la mexicana. No es por nada, pero Azul se aventó un golazo en escribir esta obra. No me gustaría darles muchos spoilers porque la pensamos seguir presentando más adelante, pero la mayoría se compró a mi personaje y me dijeron que ni siquiera parecía que fuera yo. También recibí muy buenos comentarios, sobre todo de una de mis últimas coreografías casi en el climax de la obra de danza/teatro.

Entre flores y raíces es una obra de teatro que en entre humor, poesía y movimiento, revela cómo la violencia puede ocultarse bajo el disfraz del amor. A través de la danza, un hombre se va cruzando con diferentes mujeres a las que intenta seducir.

I’m going to make a clarification that no one asked me to, but I’ll do it anyway.
I know that my main mission in this life is to dance and positively change lives through dance. And that being the case, you might think I don’t need to be giving my opinion on everything that’s happening in the world like Mafalda.
But I also believe that those of us who are in the arts or have a communication space where people hear us, read us, and take action have a moral duty to speak out when we see an injustice. And I know that sometimes it’s difficult for you to determine who I am, whether I’m left-wing or right-wing, religious or anti-religious, whatever…
– I’m against the Genocide in Gaza, even if those on the right get angry.
– I am against the abuses of the Maduro dictatorship in Venezuela, even if it angers those on the left.
– I am against the abuses of ICE against Latinos, even if it angers those on the right.
– I am against the abuses of the Castro regime in Cuba, even if it angers those on the left.
– I am against the massive deforestation of the Amazon and the Yucatan rainforest, even if it angers those on the right and the left.
– I am against bullfighting, even if it angers bullfighting fans.
– I am against pedophilia, not only in radical Muslim countries like Afghanistan (the Taliban) but also in civilized countries like the United States (Epstein).
– I am bothered by the persecution of homosexuals, especially in the 67 countries where it is still punishable.
– It bothers me that more than 730 million women in all countries have suffered some form of physical or sexual violence for being women (current UN data).
– It bothers me that they removed the Black Elephant from the Choco Crispies, even though Kellogg’s is upset.
– It bothers me immensely that people throw trash on the beach, especially cigarette butts, even though smokers are upset.
– And to top it all off, my name is Israel, even though Muslims are upset.
If I can define my position in any way, it is that I am against abuses of power, regardless of whether they are from the right, the left, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others.
And I know there are many causes I ignore. I often know I’m inconsistent, but I’m only human. I attend protests, but not many. I volunteer, but not enough. I have donated money to causes I believe in, but not much. I don’t eat red meat, but I’m not vegan.
The point is that even though I don’t do much, I don’t want to have to keep my mouth shut out of fear when I see an injustice. And if I post it in a funny way, it’s because I like humor and making people laugh, but if they still get angry, well, too bad. I’d rather someone stop being my client or my social media friend than say that I saw a grave injustice before me and decided to turn a blind eye.

No sabía lo emocionante que sería ver a Batman Azteca pelear contra Hernán Cortez Dos Caras. Qué buen diseño de arte. Estudiaron muy bien la historia y el arte prehispánico. Y el Omar Chaparro hace un muy buen trabajo de doblaje.

I didn’t know how cool will be to watch Aztec Batman fight Two-Face Hernán Cortez. The art is really cool! They studied well the prehispanic art and history. And Omar Chaparro makes a great dubbing as the priest Yoka.
