When I work as a dancer or dance instructor in hotels, is very common I have to wait a long time for the job to start. In one of the hotels I work on a weekly basis in Punta Mita, they have a bookshelf where Hotel Guests can leave their finished books so another one can read them. For some reason, it is mostly foreigners the ones who leave the books behinds. Mexican guests rarely leave their books behind. For that same reason, most of the books left at the bookshelf are in English, thus most of the Mexicans wandering there just leave without picking any book.

I got this habit of checking regularly there. When I find something really interesting, I leave one of my books in Spanish I read already and I take one with me. Last week, I was surprised to see that someone left “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” This is the unofficial 8th book of Harry Potter’s Saga. It is unofficial as it was developped as an exercise by J.K Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne to imagine possible futures for Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley, Ginny and other characters. As far as I know it was not released massively as the other books. It was rather turned into a play by Jack Thorne and put on London Theaters at the end of July, 2016.

So it was extremely delightful to find this rehearsal storyline just there, in one forgotten corner at the bookshelf of the hotel. Hogwarts has been a peaceful place for 14 years. Harry Potter is reaching his 40’s and is father of Albus Severus Potter. Albus biggest problem is to deal with his fathers’ fame, and the weight of a family he never asked for. As past and present fuse in a magical way (we expected magic, didn’t we?) both Harry and his son Albus will learn that darkness comes from unexpected places.

I really enjoyed the book. Now there is a huge queue to read the book starting with my roomie Anton. In case you want to read it after, just raise the hand and leave me a comment here:

Hip Hop at Los Mangos Library 20th Anniversary in Downtown Vallarta.

Last Wednesday, was a very busy day with my usual dance classes. Plus, there was one of the activities to celebrate Los Mangos‘ library 20th anniversary at Puerto Vallarta. All the dance and music workshops were performing at the beautiful open-air theather known as “Aquiles Serdan” or better known as “Arcos del Malecón” at Downtown Puerto Vallarta.

My Hip Hop students were really motivated to perform. We did some cool bright green and white t-shirts (It reminded me of Shanti, sight!)

We danced 3 songs for the show:

1.- Schüttel Deinen Speck by the German singer Peter Fox (Song courtesy of my former German Roomie Katharina)
2.- Watch Me by the popular Silentó
3.- Downtown, a song about scooters by the Hip Hop star Macklemore.

It was the first time my students performed in such a big place. They were nervous and they committed some mistakes, but in general was a dance I personally enjoyed really much.

I invite other kids and teens to join the Hip Hop Dance Classes every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at Los Mangos Library, one block south of Costco in Puerto Vallarta.

Una pequeña satisfacción por ver a Trump Gobernar

Navegando por el Twitter me encontré con este texto en ingles con el cuál no podría estar más de acuerdo: Se los traduzco y se los comparto:

“Tengo una pequeña, fría y amarga satisfacción por una cosa, y ésta es el hecho de que Trump va a ser absolutamente y jodidamente miserable durante los próximos cuatro años.

Es un artista del entretenimiento y un adicto a llamar la atención, no un servidor público. Él adora salir en la televisión frente a las multitudes, no trabajar realmente en un trabajo difícil, agobiante y estresante del que no se pueda safar. Va a tener que sentarse en muchas juntas, a ser obligado a leer tantas minutas, y ser metido con calzador en tantos negocios serios durante todo el día todos los días, sin multitudes que lo vean actuar, y él va a odiar cada uno de esos minutos.

Y luego, cuando no pueda cumplir sus promesas, cuando no pueda construir el muro, o crear empleos, o enriquecer a la gente;  cuando se haga evidente lo incompetente y caricaturesco que es, el país y todos sus seguidores se volverán contra él . Van a empezar a culparlo por todo, y esas multitudes que antes lo aplaudían van a empezar a abuchearlo. Él será humillado en cada turno, y dejará el cargo con la calificación de aprobación más baja jamás vista, y será despreciado universalmente.

Porque si él hubiera perdido ante Hillary, habría jugado su carta del eterno mártir, y diría que todo estuvo amañado, y tendría una comoda sesión de retórica en Fox News quejándose cada día sobre cómo él lo habría hecho mejor. Pero ahora va a tener que trabajar, va a ser obligado a lidiar con responsabilidades, rodeado de personas que lo odian y no lo respetan, gente mucho más inteligente y competente que él, y él estará expuesto como un perdedor. Y luego, lo despediremos. Se convertirá en el peor presidente de la historia. Y no tendrá a quien culpar sino a sí mismo.

Sé que esto no es mucho contra el miedo de lo que va a suceder, pero amigos, escúchenme. Vamos a hacer de la vida de Donald Trump una pesadilla viva, y yo por una vez, sentiré un placer inmenso por eso.”

How to deal with a monkey in your Zumba class?

At this point of the game, I was thinking I have seen it all and deal with all kinds of situation during a Zumba Fitness class. However today I experienced a brand-new situation that maybe only has happened to people such as the Zumba ZES masters such as Eliza Stone or Braulio Cruz or Zumba Yoda Beto Perez.
